    Yes I HAVE wondered!  Saw one outside the post office and guessed it was “man-handled” but maybe not….

      Hi Jenny, There are probably a number of possibilities: this summer’s rains have both nourished flowers and caused
      them to be top-heavy with large, rain-soaked flowers . . . and sadly, human vandalism is also an issue. But I like to think that little critters , such as this chipmunk, have found treasure at the top of a stalk and are celebrating and caching it away for winter!
